DSLCC, Virginia Tech College of Natural Resources Sign Transfer Agreement
DSLCC and Virginia Tech have entered into an agreement that allows graduates of DSLCC's Forest Management Technology Associate in Applied Science degree program to be admitted into any major in VT's College of Natural Resources. DSLCC graduates who have earned this degree and fulfill several additional requirements may enter VT in any summer or fall term.

VT entered into this agreement with DSLCC to offer a "special opportunity" to those who complete DSLCC's unique degree that provides students with the basic knowledge and skills required for successful employment in a wide variety of technician jobs related to forest management. DSLCC and VT officials met during the fall semester to finalize details of this agreement, which will go into effect immediately.

Students planning to transfer into the College of Natural Resources at VT need to complete the AAS degree in Forest Management Technology at DSLCC with a grade point average of 2.5 or better. Other requirements include completion of Pre-Calculus I or Pre Calculus II with a grade of "C" or better and completion of College Compoistion I with a grade of "C" or better.

"Educational opportunities for out students continue to expand," commented DSLCC President Richard Teaff. "Graduates of our Forest Management Technology program have done very well after completing their studies at DSLCC whether they choose to enter the workforce immediately after graduation or decide to continue their education at a four-year college or university to earn a bachelors degree. This special opportunity will be of great interest to numerous students in our region who place Virginia Tech high on their list of institutions to which they may wish to transfer."
