Dabney S. Lancaster Community College has been selected by The Center for Digital Education and Coverge magazine as one of 31 community colleges nationwide as outstanding examples of technology delivery in higher education.
DSLCC was one of 10 small community colleges recognized with enrollment of under 3,000 students.
"DSLCC continues to explore ways in which to apply technology to enhance learning and make the delivery of educational and support services more convenient for current and prospective students," said President Dr. Richard Teaff. "I am proud of our technical services team that works with our faculty, staff and administrators to assess and implement new programs and applications of technology that meet our needs. This award is an acknowledgement of their efforts."
The fourth annual Digital Community Colleges Survey identifies and spotlights colleges that provide a high level of service to their students and faculty through information technology. Schools were placed in three categories based on size of enrollment, with college officials providing information from 2007 school year. At the survey's conclusion, the top 10 in each of the three categories were named. The survey examined areas of technology ranging from online admissions, student access to transcripts and grades, information security and infrastructure, to weather and campus security alerts and online library capabilites.
Marina Leight, Vice President of the Center, said, "Our revised 2008 digital community college survey showcases the best utilization of digital technology. Community colleges continue to be the place to look for innovation."
